Democrats on Friday accused Republicans of "cherry-picking" and leaking portions of text messages and emails between a USA law enforcement official and a former British spy who investigated then-businessman Donald Trump's ties to the Russian government.
Giuliani blasted Ohr on social media just one day after he testified before Congressional leaders on Capitol Hill, saying "What are the odds the DOJ or Mueller have begun an investigation of Bruce Ohr for violating 18 USC sec. 208?"
And on Thursday, he wrote: "Wow, Nellie Ohr, Bruce Ohr's wife, is a Russia expert who is fluent in Russian". And they reflect the concern of Steele, a longtime Federal Bureau of Investigation informant whose Democratic-funded research into Trump ties to Russian Federation was compiled into a dossier, that the Republican presidential candidate was possibly compromised and his urgent efforts to convey that anxiety to contacts at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department. The materials were not among 800,000 pages of documents provided by the Justice Department to their panels, they said.
The FBI's investigation was already under way by the time it received Steele's dossier.
Among the things Ohr said he learned from Steele during the breakfast was that an unnamed former Russian intelligence official had communicated that Russian intelligence believed "they had Trump over a barrel", according to people familiar with the meeting.

Russia To Launch Major Naval Drills In Mediterranean As Syria Tensions Rise
Abdurrahman said two other bridges remain in the area and could be used by government forces to move in on the rebel stronghold. De Mistura asked if it's necessary to create a "worst-case scenario" just to secure Syrian government access to the roads.
The details of the exchange were confirmed to The Associated Press by multiple people.
Ohr, a 30-year Justice Department veteran, has been attacked repeatedly by Trump and his conservative allies for his connection to Steele and the opposition research dossier containing salacious and unverified information on Trump and Russian Federation. Ohr's wife, Nellie, who worked for the political research firm, Fusion GPS, that hired Steele, attended at least part of it. They met in the mid-2000s, people who know Ohr said, as both fought against the evolving threat of Russian organized crime for their respective countries.
Convicted felon and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was also mentioned in the report.
In December 2017, Ohr was reassigned from his job in the deputy attorney general's office and given new responsibilities. Hayden cautiously said it's still a "single data point" and "raw information" that would be used as a "departure point" for an investigation, not the endpoint.
Ohr was told Sessions and Rosenstein did not want him in the post because it involved White House meetings, the sources told the AP.
