Two people were killed when a gunman opened fire at a Madden 19 video game tournament along Jacksonville's scenic riverfront, police said Sunday.
A search of the suspect's vehicle is pending, and Jacksonville police are urging anyone in the area with information about where the suspect may have stayed the night prior to the tournament to come forward.
On an online stream of the Madden event posted to the website Twitch, several loud gunshots can be heard and the game abruptly stops.
Nine others sustained gunshot wounds and two people were hurt fleeing the area, Sheriff Mike Williams said.
He said the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot and that authorities were still making final confirmation of his identity with the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisting them in Baltimore.
One such stream was accompanied by the caption "stop the beef please", a reference to unconfirmed reports that the shooter had become angry after losing a match.
"I'm really easy to get along with, I'm not a troublemaker", he said.

The suspected shooter fired off numerous rounds at Jacksonville Landing, a downtown recreation center, where the Electronic Arts Sports's Madden NFL 19 championship series was being held. Seven had been shot, Williams said. "We are working with authorities to gather facts at this stage".
Gjoka tweeted that he was hit in the thumb when the tournament "got shot up". "Excuse me", the streamer says, and then begins talking again, apparently unaware of what was happening.
The incident thrust Jacksonville into the troubled membership of cities that have experienced mass shootings during events that were supposed to be about entertainment.
Police have not named any of the individuals who were injured but local media Action News JAX named three survivors. They said he killed two people before taking his own life, but declined to comment on his motive. The area includes waterfront restaurants and an indoor shopping mall.
