Parliamentary results showed 109 seats for incumbent President Mnangagwa's Zanu-PF, and the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) with just 41.
The ZANU-PF party of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has claimed a majority of seats in parliament, according to official results announced Wednesday. "There are 58 seats to be declared".
Preliminary results from the parliamentary vote put Mnangagwa on course of a landmark win in the first election in Zimbabwe since Robert Mugabe was ousted last year after near four decades years in power.
Both the European Union and U.S. missions urged the release of the presidential results as soon as possible.
He added: "We have seen how we have won in those areas including rural areas, we were leading, and now they want to hide on the Zanu PF usual manipulation that they control rural areas".
"The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has announced a further 50 National Assembly results, bringing the total so far to 153".
Mnangagwa was later nominated as the party's flag bearer in elections in which more than five million Zimbabweans are expected to take part. They believe the election has been stolen, and are demanding the MDC be announced as victor.
