Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played a significant role in reviving the traditional yoga not only within the country but also across the world. He further added that Yoga Day has become one of the biggest mass movements in the quest for good health and well-being.
In Dehradun, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Uttarakhand Governor KK Paul, Union Minister of state for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also participated.
Yoga connect people from different nations and different walks of life, it fosters a sense of harmony among fellow beings and with the rest of the universe. Prime Minister performed Yogasan, Pranayama and Dhyan with about 50,000 yoga enthusiasts and volunteers at the Forest Research Institute campus.
"It would be no exaggeration to say that yoga has been appreciated a lot by the western world".
Addressing a large gathering with the British-era Friday building against the backdrop, Modi said yoga has shown the world the way from "illness to wellness" and enriching lives across the globe. "Yoga is attractive because it is ancient yet modern, it is constant yet evolving", he said. On the occasion of the fourth International Yoga Day, various events have been organised across the country.
