Rescuers have found the bodies of several more victims of an eruption at Guatemala's Volcano of Fire, and emergency workers have pulled 10 people still alive from ash drifts and mud flows. Three bodies lay partially buried in ash-coloured debris from the volcano, which lies about 44 kilometres from Guatemala City.
"The new eruption has generated a fast-moving current of hot gas and volcanic matter in the direction of the city", the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala said in an alert.
Local television footage showed mourners walking through the streets, caskets hoisted on their shoulders.
At least 25 people died when the volcano, which lies 40km south-west of the capital Guatemala City, began its eruption on Sunday 3 June, sending deadly pyroclastic flows and ash across a 15-kilometre radius.
"Where we saw the lava fall, we ran to a hillside" to escape, she said.
President Jimmy Morales is considering declaring a state of emergency.
Over 3,000 people fled their homes and an estimated 1.7 million people were affected by the eruption.

Sergio Cabañas, head of the country's National Disaster Management Agency (Conred), told a local radio station that a lava stream had changed course towards El Rodeo.
A powerful quake has also hit the Guatemalan coast, though there are no reports of damage so far.
Cabanas said that the dead included a civil protection official. However, officials fear both the number of deaths and injured will rise with so many people still unaccounted for.
In Guatemala City, La Aurora airport has been closed due to ash.
