The line "When the fighting has stopped, and the fallout has settled..." can be heard in the trailer which makes it sound like humanity is ready to make the steps to go out into the world and take it back. So are we getting a looter-shooter, an MMO, a survival game, a sandbox-style multi-player shooter (like Battlecry was supposed to be before Bethesda canceled it), or something else entirely? Sources reportedly told the outlet that Fallout 76 would be a multiplayer or online game of some sort.
The name Fallout 76 is based on Vault 76, which, according to Fallout lore, was meant to open 20 years after the nuclear war.
Bethesda will reveal more information about Fallout 76 on June 11, at the company's E3 showcase.

Well, there's nothing saying the game can't be both and according to sources that have spoken to Kotaku, an online survival RPG is what has been used to best sum up the newest Fallout game. Along with today's announcement, Schreier has tweeted multiple times adamantly that those "expecting Fallout 76 to be a new traditional single-player RPG will be VERY disappointed".
The Vault-Tec terminal in the Citadel lists Vault 76 as a "control" vault, with 500 occupants. It hasn't been made clear as to what Reclamation Day is, exactly, but it is likely the day that the Vault Dweller leaves regardless of its meaning.
The titular Vault 76 has previously been mentioned but never seen in previous Fallout games. This will also provide one of the earliest looks at the Fallout universe, as previously the earliest game in the timeline (excluding Fallout 4's prologue) was Fallout 1 which was set 84 years after the great war.
Kotaku reports that its sources say Fallout 76 will be an online game, and is a co-development between Bethesda's core Maryland studio and its Austin office. More information will be available at Bethesda's E3 2018 conference. It's unclear whether or not Fallout 76 will be their next major series entry or a spin-off of some sort, but Fallout fans are going wild over the possibilities on social media.
