The Detroit Free Press reports that police in Macomb Township now believe that Ream may have abducted and killed 12-year-old girl Kimberly King, who went missing way back in 1979.
The dig on the farm, where a decade ago police found the body of another teen who was murdered by Arthur Ream, entered its third day on Wednesday and police indicated they expect to find remains at the site.
The police commissioner said the cold case into King's disappearance was reopened in November and had to wait until the weather changed before they could start digging.
All of them disappeared from the Detroit area in the 1970s and 1980s.
Arthur Ream is now imprisoned for the 1986 murder of his son's girlfriend, 13-year-old Cindy Zarzycki.
Ream is serving a life sentence for the killing of Cindy, and he'd been arrested once before for the rape of a 15-year-old hitchhiker in 1975.
The plot is where Ream led authorities to Cindy's body 10 years ago; investigators suspect he buried the other girls there, too.
Zarzycki's killer and the suspect in the cold cases is Arthur Ream, who turned 69 on Wednesday.
"We do have, as you know, probable cause to believe this is a gravesite, no question about it", Dwyer said.
Officials said Ream hasn't been cooperative and crews were meticulously going through the large plot of land. The police commissioner stated that Ream was administered a polygraph and failed during the visit. She never returned home. She was 12 at the time. Arthur Ream, a 68-year-old convicted pedophile and the prime suspect in the search for Kimberly King, is considered a person of interest in the disappearances of several girls in MI.
Ream was convicted of first-degree murder in her slaying.
She was living with her grandparents in Warren at the time. He later said Cindy's death had been driving him "crazy for 22 years".
King's sister, Konnie Beyma, told The Associated Press that she has contacted detectives and is hoping to recover Kimberly's remains.
At the time of his conviction for Zarzycki's killing, he was already serving a 15-year sentence on an unrelated molestation charge involving a 14-year-old girl.
"We're losing years, either for people who witnessed it, or for the person who did it, to whatever - just anyone who knows anything that might connect it to", she told the station.
The police commissioner in nearby Warren appealed to the inmate to help investigators find the remains. When that happens, he said, he will hold a news conference within three hours.
