The new prince was born exactly a week ago, after Kate was admitted to hospital early Monday morning, and his name was finally announced on Friday, after a week of speculation as to what moniker the Cambridges would pick for their third child.
On Tuesday, William and Kate, formally known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, signed the birth register at their Kensington Palace home in central London in front of an official from Westminster Register Office. Prince William popped the big question in 2010 with an iconic sapphire and diamond engagement ring that once belonged to his mother, the late Princess Diana.
The little boy's name was documented as His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge, which we expected, but it's his parents' listed occupations that really got us chuckling.
Although a third child, the new prince's birth has been quite a significant event historically.
At the same time, she allowed girls to be equal to boys when it came to the line of succession.
The Duchess has only had two visitors - her two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

But luckily for us, we can expect to see the couple (and maybe a glimpse of Prince Louis) unofficially at his christening in a few months, the Royal Ascot, Princess Beatrice's fall wedding and, of course, Prince Harry's May wedding.
Her Majesty The Queen was the first to be notified of the birth.
"It's unlikely they'll be asleep when William and Kate arrive home".
But interestingly, little Louis nearly wasn't a prince at all.
"I'm sure that the duke and duchess are cherishing this special time with their new son, and no doubt Prince George and Princess Charlotte are enjoying getting to know their new little brother".
We are both so pleased at the news.
