Vikas Krishan adds to the boxers golden run at CWG 2018

"I would say it was a weak final for me because I have been shooting 458 plus all the time, but this time it was weak in the kneeling position and I had to cover it somehow in the prone but, still again, not so good in the standing", said the shooter to PTI, unsatisfied with his effort but one which was enough to get him his first CWG gold. The boxers, led by three, finished with nine medals in all, their best ever performance, two better than the previous best attained at 2010 Delhi Games.
Apart from these six boxers, three others, Muhammed Hussamuddin, Naman Tanwar and Manoj Kumar claimed bronze medals on Friday.

Vikas defeated Dieudonne Wilfried Seyi Ntsengue of Cameroon by a 5:0 unanimous verdict in a close contest which saw both the boxers claiming to have won the bout before the referee's verdict.

The technically superior Vikas Krishan stuck to his usual tactic of taking slow control of the proceedings, trading with caution first up before letting it rip to take the opponent by surprise.
The five-time Asian champion has claimed three gold medals in the last five months, starting with the Asian Championships in Vietnam. He has a bronze each from the 2014 Asian Games and the 2015 Asian Championships.
Vikas plans to turn professional by the end of this year and the gold here just adds to his accomplished amateur run. Kaushik lost 2:3 to Harry Garside of Australia in a hard-fought final. Amit, who was chasing his third successive worldwide gold, was beaten by England's European silver-medallist Galal Yafai.
This was Satish's first Commonwealth Games medal.
