The injured officers underwent treatment for gunshot wounds - one in the arm and the other in the shoulder, CNN reported.

According to Morton's Facebook page, the officer graduated from Knob Noster High School, he attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and served in the National Guard as well as the US Army.
Officers from the Clinton Police Department, Henry County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to the scene during the incident.
It started with a 911 call, punctuated by two women's screams.
When officers arrived at the Clinton home, they came into contact with Tammy Widger, Sgt. Bill Lowe with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said Wednesday.
Additional agencies were called to the Clinton home, including members of the Bates County Tactical Team and the MSHP Troop A SWAT Team, who entered the home to get to Morton.
The Clinton Fire Department issued a statement urging everyone to avoid the area - saying the shooter was barricaded in the home and adding, "Please understand the emotional side of this event for those involved and please refrain from posting on social media any information obtained by either radio traffic or by means of speculation". Most recently Waters had been arrested in November 2017 for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

Morton was a full-time officer from February 2015 through January 2017, when he became a reserve officer. He attended Knob Noster High School and later studied at University of Central Missouri.
The deceased suspect has been identified as James E. Waters, 37, of Clinton. The officers reportedly confirmed with dispatch that they were in the correct location and proceeded to enter the home to further investigate the situation.
"It's hard to put into words what you go through when you have an officer killed in a line of duty", Lowe said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is waiting for an autopsy to determine Waters's official cause of death.

Waters fatally shot Morton and wounded Bettencourt, who remains in stable condition. It wasn't initially clear what circumstances led to the shooting. They then regrouped so they could go back into the house.
This makes the second Clinton officer shot and killed in the line of duty in the past year.
