The all-new 2018 Honda Accord, the 10 generation of America's most popular vehicle, has earned the prestigious 2018 North American auto of the Year award. This marked the second year that the prestigious awards had three winners instead of two, as the Truck/Utility class had been split two years ago.
The Accord took home the prize for top auto, while the XC60 and Navigator were recognized as utility vehicle and truck of the year respectively.
Last year's winners included the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Honda Ridgeline and Chrysler Pacifica. Arcangeli calls the Accord "new from the ground up", with more coupe-like styling and its first-ever turbocharged engines.
Initiated in 1994, they are judged by 60 professional automotive journalists from the United States and Canada who work for independent magazines, television, radio, newspapers and industry websites. The newest Accord, the nameplate's 10th generation, was praised in particular for looking low and sleek but surprising with more room than its predecessor.
