The Don Harrington Discovery Center (DHDC) had a Noon Year's Eve celebration for those who are too young to stay up until midnight.
Just before noon on Saturday, while countless Puebloans were likely still putting the final touches on New Year's Eve plans, many Pueblo kids and their families were already holding their collective breath while waiting for the ball to drop at the Pueblo Convention Center.
But despite the earlier countdown and balloon drop, those in attendance weren't any less enthusiastic. One of the bags didn't immediately open, with many balloons getting caught inside, but both volunteers and kids didn't mind batting around the bag until they all cascaded to the floor.
"[It's something] the kids really, really enjoy", Knight said, and this year was no exception.
More than 275 people - all of them children and families - attended the event at the Children's Museum in the City of Poughkeepsie, according to event organizers.
