The DOJ says that Pho started taking documents home starting somewhere in 2010 and up until March 2015, when he was caught.
The court documents don't reveal Pho's motive or anything he may have done or meant to do with the documents.
Reportedly, Russian spies stole classified data from an NSA employee's home computer by using the Kaspersky Lab antivirus software onboard. Pho was involved in "highly classified" projects and had access to government computers.
Although Pho's offense carries a possible 10-year sentence, prosecutors in the case agreed not to seek more than eight years.
Judging from his plea deal with prosectors, Pho broke federal law when, as a developer on the NSA's TAO hacking team, he took his work home with him multiple times and, in the process, exposed the classified information.
