U.S. special counsel Robert Mueller's team is investigating senior White House adviser Jared Kushner over contacts with Israeli officials, according to a Wall Street Journal report Tuesday.
Indeed, while there are no official indications that Kushner is a target of Mueller's probe, he figures prominently in several exchanges that are known to be of interest to the special counsel's team. In an 11-page statement issued in July, Kushner said that he and Gorkov did not discuss sanctions or his family real-estate business in their brief-sit down at the end of past year, but Mueller's team has reportedly questioned those around Kushner regarding the meeting.
The scion of a wealthy New York-New Jersey developer, Kushner's ties to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu predate his White House role. Kushner's also a member of Trump's family, had glaring omissions on his security clearance forms, and his potential influence in Comey's dismissal makes him an integral player in the ongoing Trump-Russia saga that's cast a shadow over the young administration's first year in office. That decision ultimately led to Mueller's appointment as special counsel.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Mueller's team is probing Kushner's involvement in the controversy surrounding a United Nations resolution passed in December 2016 that condemned Israeli settlement construction. "They used to have a great friend in the United States, but.", Trump wrote. The investigation of Kushner's actions falls apparently falls within Mueller's mandate because it involves rumors that President-elect Trump assigned his son-in-law to see whether Russian Federation could be convinced to veto the resolution once it was clear that Obama would not. But President Obama declined and the resolution passed on December 23.
Earlier this week his lawyer Abbe Lowell said Kushner actually encouraged others in President Donald Trump's campaign to decline meetings with foreign people who "go back home and claim they have special access to gain importance for themselves". The firing, reportedly recommended by Kushner, could have constituted obstruction of justice.
The Journal reports that Mueller's latest interest in Kushner also includes his role in "arranging meetings or communication with foreign leaders during the transition".
