With AP Photos.Former AC Milan and Real Madrid striker Robinho was sentenced to nine years in jail by a court in Milan on charges of sexual assault following an incident in 2013, Italian news agency ANSA reported Thursday.
Robinho, 33, who now plays with Atlético Mineiro in Brazil, pleaded not guilty via his lawyer and did not appear at any of the court hearings in northern Italy.

He was playing for AC Milan at the time and a tribunal today reportedly ruled he was found guilty with five other men of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman.
The Brazilian has the right of appeal and the sentence will not be enforced until that process has been completed, according to Sky Sports.
Five other men were also accused of the same crime.
