The identity of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent who was fatally injured over the weekend in southern Texas has been revealed.
On Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott's office announced a reward of up to $20,000 through Texas Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed Martinez and wounded his partner.
Authorities were searching Texas' Big Bend area for suspects and witnesses Monday after US Customs and Border Protection agent Rogelio Martinez was allegedly bashed to death with a rock while on patrol.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released a statement using Martinez's name to share his condolences.
His partner, who was not named in the statement, was reportedly left in serious condition.
Trump says a second officer injured Sunday was "brutally beaten and badly, badly hurt" but "looks like he'll make it".
At some point, Martinez and his partner suffered severe injuries.
"While some people want to build walls, we want to open doors", Morones said.
