Boeing immediately hit back with a provisional agreement to sell 175 planes to budget airline flydubai. Indigo said the jets would go to Frontier Airlines, Mexico's Volaris, East European operator Wizz Air and Chile's JetSmart. These aircraft are from AerCap's order book with Airbus and are scheduled to deliver in 2020. The value of the deal is estimated to be above $2 billion. If all the deals they each announced at the show are finalized before the end of the year, they will head into the last weeks of 2017 neck-and-neck in the race for the biggest annual order tally.

Wednesday's flydubai-Boeing deal is the third aircraft order placed by the Dubai-based airline with Boeing in its eight-year history and follows orders placed in 2008 and 2013.
The sheer size of the deal has caught many in the aviation industry by surprise. It is the largest-ever single order commitment for Airbus.
