The test was carried out on an 11-mile stretch of road between Las Vegas and Pahrhump, that had been closed to the public.
Using a customer auto, the Swedish manufacturer confirmed on Twitter that it had received permission to close the road for two days, but needed just three runs - one sighting run, then a full-chat effort in each direction - to break the old record.
That accolade came thanks to the Swedish missile hitting 447 km/h (make that 277.9 mph), a feat that took place in Pahrump, NV. All data on the day was recorded and verified on site by Racelogic.

It's also said that the Agera RS's surge of torque did not drop off after 240 miles per hour.
The factory spec Agera RS he was driving has a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which produces 1,360bhp, 1,011 lb ft of torque. The tires that were used are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and Michelin reps were on hand to be sure everything was good with the tires.
